FILM SCREENING & INFORMAL TALK WITH RYMMA ZYUBINA – Sunday 22 April 2018 @UkrClub @ 4:00-

Film Screening of “The Nest of the Turtledove” (2016) followed by an informal talk with Rymma Zyubina, an actress, an activist & one of the most admirable women in Ukraine. This event is supported by the AUGB (London branch) & the Embassy of Ukraine and sponsored by the law firm Sterling & Law Associates LLP.

Rymma Zyubina will talk about her recent leading role in “The Nest of the Turtledove” where she played Daryna, a Ukrainian woman returning home after several years of working illegally in Italy. The talk will explore a wide range of complex issues around immigration and gender, as well as the ways migration affects both the family and society more generally.

Donations are welcome. All funds raised during this event will go towards British-Ukrainian Aid’s humanitarian and medical aid projects.

Rymma Zyubina will talk about her recent leading role in the film “The Nest of the Turtledove” (2016) where she played Daryna, a Ukrainian woman returning home after several years of working illegally in Italy. The talk will explore a wide range of complex issues around immigration and gender, as well as the ways migration affects both the family and society more generally.

Rymma Zyubina is a Ukrainian theatre & film actress and was an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity in 2013-2014. She twice won the most prestigious theatrical prize in Ukraine “Kyiv Pectoral” (1993) for her roles as Sonya in Chekhov’s “Uncle Vanya” and as Tanya in Hlovatsky’s “The Fourth Sister” (2007).

In 2016, at the 65th International Film Festival in Mannheim-Heidelberg, Germany, she received a “Special Award” for her unrivalled performance in the role of Daryna in “The Nest of the Turtledove” directed by Taras Tkachenko. In 2017 she won the best female role award at the 25th International Film Festival in Varna, Bulgaria. Rymma has played more than 50 roles in the theatre & 90 roles in films.

The venue is conveniently located in central London: the closest tube stations are Shepherd’s Bush and Holland Park.

The BAR and the CAFÉ serving traditional Ukrainian cuisine will be open before, during and after the event.
