About the event

Ukrainian prosthetics specialists have received training in Leeds, UK, and have already managed to treat several Ukrainian soldiers successfully. The aim is to start fitting bionic prosthetics in Ukraine helping to reduce costs and provide an excellent service locally. Other good news is that the Ukrainian Government will continue to help funding treatment meaning that Sergiy Tovstyk and others like him can fulfil their dreams of leading more independent lives once again.

In the meantime, to speed up the rehabilitation process the Ukrainian Prosthetics Centre in Kyiv “Ortho—Service” needs a bionic “training hand” for assessing whether a patient can use a bionic prosthesis and to help them practice using their future prosthesis. But the cost of a training prosthesis is high – £4,128 from a UK company.

We are hoping that you can help fund this training hand so that Sergiy Tovstyk and others who lost their arms in combat can start their rehabilitation process.
