ABOUT THIS EVENT
This event is part of the new programme of webinars hosted by British-Ukrainian Aid introducing books written by Ukrainians about Ukraine. We are delighted to be co-organising Olena Bilozerska’s book presentation with AUGB London Branch.
Olena Bilozerska will talk about her book “Diary of an Illegal Soldier” short-listed for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize in 2021. The book has documented Olena’s experience at the frontline in 2014-2017 as a sniper of the Volunteer Ukrainian corps Right Sector and the Ukrainian Volunteer Army. The author will discuss the role of volunteers in the Russian-Ukrainian war (2014-present) in conversation with the event moderator, London Euromaidan volunteer Pavlo Kvach.
Lt. OLENA BILOZERSKA is a holder of the third degree of the Order for Courage. She is a Russian-Ukrainian war veteran, an officer of the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a former sniper of the Volunteer Ukrainian corps Right Sector and the Ukrainian Volunteer Army (2014-2017). Lt. Bilozerska held the position of a commander of a self-propelled artillery platoon in 2018-2020. Olena is also a journalist and human rights activist.
